Modo – From NY to Milan with… style!

Created as a symbol of individualism, Modo’s frames are always chic and adapt to the shape of every face for a perfect fit, giving a glamorous look

words Carolina Saporiti

Born in 1990s SoHo, the location of many artists’ lofts and art galleries, now better known for its variety of shops – ranging from trendy upscale boutiques to national and international chain store outlets – Modo is launching new designs for Autumn/Winter 18. Defined by its slim silhouettes and simple constructions, the minimalistic Paper-Thin Ultra collection – one of the lightest frames in the world – is updated with a brand-new optical shape. The new unisex style 4419 is a Seventies inspired, double-bridged, semi-rimless frame available in four shades. 4419 can be worn in matte white polyamide with matte grey titanium, a new grey tortoise colour with dark green titanium, navy with plum-navy titanium, and a smoke with dark gun titanium combination.

For the new season, Modo has also enhanced the exclusive, special design Paper-Thin – the most innovative collection made with 0.6 mm-thick Beta Titanium 153. The collection is enriched by two new optical shapes, each with innovative construction and the new screwless hinges. The new shapes (named after two stylish neighbourhoods in Milan) highlight the frames’ architecture with extended, flatter titanium fronts, coupled with colourful rims to call attention to the innovative design that makes these frames so unique.

Autumn/Winter 18’s two new optical styles combine geometric details with flat titanium for a standout new look. Navigli is a panto shape frame with angular, defined edges and has six colour options, including: a crystal rim/beige titanium combination, tortoise on black titanium, smoke with gold, and red on gun. The second design, Ticinese, is a masculine square frame with similar angular edges. It also has six complementary colours: grey with matte grey titanium, red on dark gun, grey/navy, crystal with beige titanium, tortoise on black and a classic black and dark gun titanium choice; glasses to immediately feel as stylish as the neighborhoods they are named after. Modo is always looking for the best in terms of design and innovation. Since its early beginnings, it has evolved into a company that designs, manufactures, and distributes a successful portfolio of house, designer, and contemporary lifestyle brands. The company includes Modo, ECO, Derek Lam and several other brands. Modo, founded by Alessandro Lanaro, is a global company with offices in New York, Milan, and Stockholm. The new effort and mission is to drive the eyewear industry towards environmental sustainability and social responsibility: initiatives such as producing frames with 95% recycled content or biobased materials; planting a tree for every frame a customer purchases or providing comprehensive eye care to children in need.
