Music, art and fashion icons: These are the sources of inspiration that Scottish designer Danielle Rattray draws on to give life to the collections of her eponymous eyewear brand based on artisanal and eco-friendly manufacturing. A working mum raising two sons, she is a champion of equality and women in business. Danielle works in the seaside town of Stonehaven, not far from where she was born and raised, Aberdeen. Here, together with a small team, she dedicates herself to the realization of contemporary design products, traversed by her trademark ‘romance-meets-rock’ aesthetic which is achieved with rigorously handmade production, and with the support of high quality British and French manufacturers. The goal is to create unique and inspiring products to be enjoyed for generations. her roots and cultural background are expressed through glasses featuring bold shapes and a bold colour palette – as seen in the 2024 collection ‘Scottish hearts’, inspired by her Scottish and British music heritage and some renowned fashion and punk icons.

As the designer says, “After working and travelling extensively over the past few years, the 2024 collection ‘Scottish hearts’ is my dedication to my Scottish and British music heritage, to my fashion and punk inspirations, particularly Lee McQueen and Vivienne Westwood. My customers, team and friends in France inspired me to be bolder in my design and styling expressions. having seen some fantastic music acts that toured Scotland in 2023, I was inspired to be more ‘front footed’ and confident in how I fused my feminine shapes and silhouettes with strong colours and angles, and of course always putting
a punk twist on Scottish icons like tartan.”
