VAVA collaborates with the Portuguese Olympic athlete Patrícia Mamona for a new capsule eyewear collection

Vava joins forces with Portuguese Olympic triple jump athlete Patrícia Mamona for a new collaboration. The capsule eyewear collection features the model CL0016 that incorporates sustainable, organic materials and the latest in 3D-printing technology. It’s the fourth collaboration made by the Portuguese brand, that has previously released exclusive capsules with architect Alvaro Siza Vieira, fashion designer, photographer and artist Rad Hourani and music legend Juan Atkins. Model CL0016 is part of VAVA’s new line of modular eyewear, that allows the frame to be adjusted to the wearer’s personal silhouette. It’s a perfect example of how a dynamic design enables tone changes from athletic via high fashion through to a more avant-garde aesthetic.

CL0016 offers a range of windshields and add-ons in different colours. This versatility can also reflect the individual needs and desires of wearer – with the model’s interchangeable lenses, one can wear the eyewear as regular sunglasses or as prescription optical frame with a sun protector clip-on. The frame is available in four different colours: black, white, yellow, red and green. The white frame is available in a limited edition of 100 numbered pieces whilst the black frame is available in a limited edition of 200 numbered pieces. These 3D-printed frames are created using high quality polyamide bio-based powder, made from castor oil. 3D printing technology allows the adoption and design of complex eyewear frames. The design freedom offered by this technology allows for advanced functional and stylistic features, while using the minimum amount of material required to ensure sustainability.
