Timeless

Life over time

A timeless colour like havana becomes the symbol of the concept of timelessness, a concept that becomes increasingly important in a conscious and sustainable approach to consumption

One of the most frequently-used words in the description of new collections is 'timeless'. And it is no coincidence that the latest line of Gucci watches is called just that. It is no longer just an aesthetic issue linked to shapes, especially the iconic ones that we already know and recognise, but the quality of materials and workmanship that translates into durability: a concept that is closely linked to sustainability and conscious consumption. To put it briefly: the less we waste, the more we contribute to safeguarding the planet. But it is also a matter of restoring meaning, dignity and value to objects, prolonging their life over time, and even treating and repairing them, thanks to services and advice provided by the companies that produce them, and not only by opticians.

In this context, there have always been timeless and universal colours such as havana, which is re-proposed every season with different nuances, lights and shades without ever losing its classic appeal, and it is above all this year that we find it in many collections of acetate glasses. In fact, it defines the unmistakable style of Cutler and Gross that for the new proposals, of which the 9261 model is part (in the opening photo), evokes the cinematographic grandeur of 1950s Hollywood, inspired by Modernism, the symbolic architecture of those years, and its photographic transposition in the famous images of Julius Shulman. The 9261 model has a sculpted shape, which is classic and contemporary at the same time, polished to perfection over the course of 96 hours.

Time as an added value is also perfectly expressed in the unisex Matador model by Oliver Goldsmith, which is part of the Icons collection and was designed in 1968, but remains one of the bestsellers of the London brand. Like all Oliver Goldsmith glasses, it can be customised with the wearer's own initials and with customised coloured lenses. In the new Mykita Acetate collection, on the other hand, an exclusive treatment of the surfaces is used that makes them translucent, with a glassy and icy effect, following the concept of Chilled Raw. In particular, the Dakar model has a square design, clean lines and wire-mounted lenses.

For Moscot too, time has a great value, that of tradition, of savoir-faire that is handed down from generation to generation, translating into models such as Gavolt, also available in the sunglasses version and which, while maintaining a vintage charm, is projected into the future. And this is certainly also the case with the Joaquim model by Lapima, with sculpted lines and opaque finishes. The precise rounded edges redefine the profiles of a bold sunglasses model that is part of the new Veraneio collection and that tells the story of a Brazilian summer (which begins in December in those latitudes), of a house by the sea and of carefree moments spent with friends. After an inner journey completed with the previous collection, Lapima then returns to its origins, to its landscapes, to its light.

On the other hand, the SF2006 sunglasses by Ferragamo, characterised by significant thicknesses and rivets taken from the closure of the Fiamma bag, returns to its iconic references. Minimal, but at the same time full of personality, the four bold glasses of the Look Moda collection are also consistent with an idea of timeless style. The 75370 oversized model has a square shape that is made vibrant by grooves on the front and on the temples, making it softer.  These are urban models, to be worn with any outfit, because timeless also means going beyond fashion and fashions... ...and doing so with freedom, elegance and understatement.
