In honour of D’Annunzio

A special tribute to the great artist with an inimitable life

words Carolina Saporiti

It was January 16th 1916 when an aircraft accident caused D’Annunzio’s partial blindness, and, from that moment on, he describes himself as orbo veggente (blind visionary). On the occasion of the first centenary of his eye’s loss, the young Italian company Pugnale & Nyleve, in collaboration with Fondazione Vittoriale degli Italiani, introduces Sufficit Animus, a special tribute to the great poet. The model’s shapes are inspired to those usually worn by D’Annunzio during his life. Enriched by a 18k gold plating with oriental patterns engravings, the frame tells the story of the poet’s fascination towards the Land of the Rising Sun.
