House of Modo introduces EyeFly, an audio-only smart eyewear that integrates open-ear sound and hands-free connectivity into premium frames

At Mido Milan, House of Modo presented EyeFly, a new approach to wearable technology, positioning sound — rather than image — at the center of the experience. The brand introduces what it defines as “Sound in Motion”: smart audio eyewear designed to integrate seamlessly into everyday optical frames.

Conceived for people constantly on the move, EyeFly frames are crafted to look and feel like premium eyewear while discreetly incorporating open-ear audio and hands-free connectivity. The concept is intentionally audio-only. There is no visual capture or recording function, a choice that reflects a growing sensitivity around privacy and the social implications of wearable tech. As Alessandro Lanaro, Founder and Global CEO, explains, the decision to exclude video stems from the belief that, in daily life, cameras can feel unnecessary or even intrusive.

Technologically, the system is built around directional open-ear audio, allowing users to listen to music or podcasts, answer calls, and interact with voice assistants while remaining aware of their surroundings. Integrated microphones support calls and voice commands, while touch-sensitive controls on the temples enable one-tap interaction. The frames weigh approximately 40 grams and offer up to six hours of continuous listening or calling, positioning them within the rhythm of a standard working day.

One of the defining features is a modular temple system: the smart audio temples can be replaced with standard ones, instantly converting the frame into a traditional optical model. This interchangeable structure suggests a dual identity — connected when required, conventional when preferred — without altering the front of the frame, which remains tech-free in appearance.

EyeFly works with popular apps and voice assistants and is available in multiple styles, colors and lens options, reinforcing its intention to function as a platform rather than a single device. Within House of Modo’s portfolio of independent brands, the launch signals an expansion into wearable audio that prioritizes discretion, modularity and everyday usability over spectacle.
