On the side of the elephants

From adopting a puppy in Kenya to safeguarding the environment, Kindani's dedication to eco-sustainability is also reflected in the natural motifs of its models
Inspiration comes from Africa, while passion comes from the heart. As always, after all. Through the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, in 2022, Paolo Zardini Lacedelli adopted Kindani, an orphaned elephant calf, thus ensuring his survival in Kenya. This unique story and experience were then shared through the creation of an eyewear brand named Kindani, with the aim of raising awareness not only about the drama of poaching, which puts entire species of animals at risk, but also about the respect and conservation of natural habitats, which are increasingly fragile and exposed to both human and environmental risks, wherever they are.
He also decided to donate part of the proceeds to the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, thus continuing to support the virtuous initiatives of the African charity, which since 1977 has been caring for orphaned cubs of pachyderms and rhinos who are victims of poaching, as well as preserving the environment in which they live. The elephant, therefore, becomes a symbol of identity, a recognizable sign of constant commitment and strong corporate ethics, which translates into glasses handmade with care, attention, and sustainable awareness by expert craftsmen.
It is no coincidence that the material chosen is Mazzucchelli's M49 acetate, with a high bio-based and biodegradable content. For the special models of the women’s collection, this acetate magically contains fragments and natural visions in its transparency: leaves, peacock feathers, alpine flowers, and other elements that create a kind of second skin with their texture. The uniqueness of nature, therefore, becomes the uniqueness of each pair of glasses – unrepeatable and made in a limited edition. The first Lexi model, which has now become a staple for the brand, is characterized by rims inspired by the particular shape of the elephant's ears.
In addition to the women’s collection, which includes 11 sunglasses and 5 prescription glasses, this year Kindani Eyewear also introduced the men’s line, consisting of 10 models. Strong profiles and significant thicknesses define the glasses, available in classic shades and color combinations, with the exclusive Malik version incorporating fragments of wood recovered from the silver and red firs felled by the devastating Vaia storm of 2018 into the acetate. The brand thus redefines the concept of contemporary luxury by providing a new sensory experience that involves awareness and direct contact with nature, following a path that spans entire continents. Although everything started in Kenya, it is in Cadore that the project and vision of the brand were concretely developed. Two places so far away and yet so close, united by the wild beauty of uncontaminated, almost ancestral landscapes. Who would have thought that a small corner of Africa was hidden in the middle of the Dolomites?
