Let's follow the flow of music, style and surf: Zafrique Ensemble collection by Raen introduces 'Phonos' and 'Mystiq' - two new frames designed in collaboration with Mikey February, surfer, creative spirit and brand ambassador of Raen. The models explore the duality of Mikey's aesthetic and his approach to surfing. On one hand, he has a clean, smooth approach to modern performance surfing, which is represented by Phonos and Raen's modern classic design language. On the other, he has an experimental approach. This side is inspired by the music of South Africa in the late 60s and 70s, whose spirit Raen attempted to capture in creating Mystiq.

"We drew a lot of inspiration from the sonic aesthetic of Jazz and Funk from the mid-60s and 80s and reproduced it visually. Through the frames, the language, and the iconography, music was a big inspiration. Having that classic style, the vibe and feeling being more of a statement piece and a little bit more expressive." explains Mikey February. Phonos represents Mikey's interpretation of Raen's Modern Classic design philosophy. Phonos delivers on those curves whilst retaining a masculine silhouette, and creating a new iconic shape for Raen. It is finished with a signature fin temple design, bevelled details, expert hand polishing and 5 barrel rivet hinges in a triple-dot pattern.

Mystiq is Inspired by Mikey's love for the cosmic African Jazz and Funk artists. Mystiq is Mikey's fashion forward design: It is expressive, fun, and embodies his free flowing approach to exploring new lines on wave riding crafts of all types. The frame is rooted in an expressive square lens shape, with tall end pieces and custom bevelled temple designs. Mystiq is expertly hand polished, with a clean front and 7 barrel rivet hinges mounted onto a triple-dot pattern rivet hinge on temple.
