Here are the winners of the 2025 Silmo d’Or, showcasing the most innovative, creative and trend-setting eyewear designs across categories from children’s frames to smart glasses
The Silmo d’Or awards, established in 1994, have become a benchmark for excellence in the optical and eyewear industry. Each year, the jury recognizes products that distinguish themselves through design, innovation, technology, or creativity. Divided into several categories, the awards highlight both established players and emerging designers, offering an overview of the most relevant trends shaping the sector.
Here is the complete list of the 2025 laureates:
Children – Manti Manti, “3D Collection” - Sustainable PA11 and 3D printing give life to flexible, durable, lightweight children’s frames that minimize waste while ensuring comfort and play-proof resistance.
Sport – Evil Eye Eyewear, “Speedsense” - Rimless model designed for athletes, featuring a clever locking system for fast lens changes, tension bar for a perfect fit, and ventilation for an unobstructed sports experience.
Vision – Rodenstock, “B.I.G Exact Sensitive” - A world-first lens incorporating biometric data and visual sensitivity, offering highly personalized correction that goes beyond standard prescriptions for unmatched precision.
Technological Innovation in Eyewear – QED Eyewear, “Phi” - A patented fastening system free of glue, washers, or consumables. Easy to assemble and reuse, it represents an eco-friendly, durable solution for both opticians and users.
Smart Eyewear – EssilorLuxottica, “Nuance Audio” - Eyewear that discreetly integrates hearing support into the frame. Designed to improve clarity in noisy environments, it offers a seamless solution for mild to moderate hearing loss.
Optical Frame “Labels” – TAG Heuer, “Line” - A frame blending Dyneema® double bridge flexibility with bio-nylon carbon strength, titanium detailing, and cork sleeve accents, celebrating the innovation of high-performance materials.
Sunglasses “Labels” – Como + Yohji Yamamoto, “YYSUN502” - A sculptural model with gradient lenses and a micro-perforated metal bridge, balancing avant-garde design with refined technical detail, true to Yohji Yamamoto’s creative DNA.
Optical Frame “Eyewear Designer” – Dzmitry Samal, “Luc” - A geometric reinterpretation of the logo frame, combining polygonal silhouettes, colored resin inserts, and matte finishes for a modern, lightweight, and boldly artistic eyewear.
Sunglasses “Eyewear Designer” – Design Eyewear Group / Face à Face, “Flare” - An expressive design marked by luminous lines and asymmetry, creating a daring, radical look that perfectly blends artistic creativity with contemporary wearability.
Optical Frame “Eyewear Maker” – Vanni, “Extra” - Crafted from 8 mm acetate, this bold frame features faceted contours and continuous nose pads. A powerful balance of sculptural style, comfort, and everyday practicality.
Sunglasses “Eyewear Maker” – Piero Massaro, “Tramonti di pietra” - A poetic frame inspired by sunsets, featuring warm red and yellow shades, gradient lenses, and artisanal touches that recall natural landscapes and Italian craftsmanship.
Material & Equipment – ACEP, “Smart Mirror AI” - An innovative measurement tool using artificial intelligence to capture, select, and analyze images in under 10 seconds, simplifying and enhancing the eyewear fitting process.
Jury’s Special Prize – Sapiens, “ER-1813 M” - A mask-like design inspired by Homo habilis skull morphology. Both conceptual and functional, it allows prescription lens integration while telling an evolutionary story.
Jury’s Special Prize – Friendly Frenchy - Honored for its eco-driven philosophy, developing natural or recycled materials and collaborating with inclusive, local partners to embed sustainability at every stage of production.
