Moscot, the iconic New York eyewear institution, has opened its first store in Munich, Germany, at Theatinerstrasse 31. This marks the brand’s 14th shop in Europe and the 31st worldwide. With over 100 years of expertise in eyewear and eye care, Moscot continues its journey as a family-run optical business, now in its fifth generation, on a global scale.

“Our multichannel approach allows us to understand where our current and potential customers are located,” explains Dr. Harvey Moscot, fourth-generation family member and CEO. “Over the years, our fan base in Germany has grown, partly thanks to local retail partners, but no one tells our story quite like we can in our own Moscot shop. We’re finally here and excited to offer our full collection and service in Munich.”

The Munich Moscot store incorporates many of the same elements as the original shop in Manhattan’s Lower East Side. Tin ceilings, vintage knick-knacks, historical artifacts, and other New York-inspired objects evoke the nostalgic feeling of stepping into great-grandmother Sylvia Moscot’s living room.

“Like New York, Munich is a cosmopolitan city that encompasses history, culture, art, and architecture,” adds Zack Moscot, fifth-generation family member and Chief Design Officer. “In many ways, it’s the perfect parallel and adaptation for Moscot, while still leaving room for our unique Lower East Side personality to stand out and set us apart. We’re thrilled to bring a taste of New York combined with the craftsmanship and optical expertise our brand is known for.”
