Felix Prusseit, Flair's Product and Marketing Manager, discusses the evolution of the German brand over the years and unveils upcoming innovations

Since it was founded in 1946, how has Flair evolved over the years?
Since 1946, Flair has undergone significant evolution. To maintain its success over the past 80 years, Flair has continually adapted to market needs while steadfastly upholding our company principles. Our archive reveals a stylistic journey demonstrating Flair's bold, concise and consistent development of its own distinctive style. Milestones such as the introduction of the first rimless frame in 1972 and the development of pure technology in 2003, marked significant advancements in our expertise. Today, as part of the OWP Group, we reflect on a rich history and eagerly anticipate inspiring others with our unique designs.

What innovations will you unveil in the upcoming collection?
Our autumn/winter collection highlights shimmering cabochon natural stones, forged titanium, and sophisticated colour combinations. The Art Couture line emphasizes lightness and harmonious colour accents with natural stones. We are introducing models that experiment with light and shadows, featuring dynamically sculpted finishes that create a sophisticated spatial effect on the temple. These designs are complemented by fresh and elegant colour combinations. Additionally, we are launching a special limited edition named Pure Colour Specials.

Made in Germany is one of the brand’s strong points. Could you share more about its significance?
Personally, I do think it's better if the value chain stays at home. It offers us many advantages if the distances are shorter and you know the people involved in the success of a product. Throughout the entire production process, we have the opportunity to influence every step and thus ensure and guarantee high quality later on.

One of Flair's strengths is its special glazing technique. Could you explain how this process works?
With our patented pure glazing technique, we offer our customers the widest field of vision on the market, as we use only a special transparent and tear-resistant nylon thread for mounting. Nothing more and nothing less is needed to glaze a pair of glasses in a stable and, above all, maintenance-free way.

What are the next steps for Flair?
We are always keen to create new shapes, surface finishes, material combinations and more. In our premium segment ‘Art Couture,’ we will continue to use exclusive natural stones and drive the collection forward with our variety of ideas, just like in the other segments of our portfolio. But our reduced, minimalistic frames will also continue to evolve. Stay tuned.
