Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya, founder and creative director of Sirivannavari, discussed her Fall/Winter 2025/26 collection inspired by equestrian heritage

During the latest Milan Fashion Week held this past February, we had the opportunity to meet Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya, founder and creative director of the eponymous Sirivannavari brand, on the occasion of the presentation of the new Fall/Winter 2025/26 collection, inspired by equestrian heritage. The designer reinterprets the grandeur of equestrian attire with a forward-thinking perspective, where tradition and rebellion intertwine, blending strength and poetic elegance. Accessories, too, embody this aesthetic, such as eyewear, which strikes a perfect balance between style and practicality.

How would you define your style?
Every collection celebrates the beauty and strength of the female figure. This season draws inspiration from the equestrian world. The woman we envision has experimented with combining leather and fabric, striving to find a perfect balance between the two materials. It wasn’t easy at first, but the experimentation process led us to surprising results.

Now, let's talk about the eyewear. You mentioned that producing them is challenging. Why is that? Where are they made?

I love eyewear, but making them is complex. We produce them in Japan, where craftsmanship in the eyewear industry is extraordinary. In my opinion, Italy and Japan are the two best countries for producing high-quality eyewear.

What fascinates you most about eyewear?
Eyewear is an accessory that can complete a look without the need for makeup. Personally, I like that they protect from the wind and light. I adore retro style, with antique details, and I often add side protections for added comfort.

How would you define your eyewear collection in one word? Is it more fashion or more practical?
I would say both. I take the time to find the right balance between aesthetics and functionality. The lens is crucial: it must be comfortable for the eyes and provide protection from UV rays and blue light. The eyewear we produce stands out for its uniqueness. Each year, we create a collection, usually one or two times, and I constantly collaborate with my team to perfect it. I travel to places with particularly fascinating light to better understand how to design the eyewear models, experimenting with lenses and exploring innovative solutions. My goal is to ensure flawless visibility while maintaining lightness and optimal performance.

What materials do you prefer for the frames?
I love titanium for its lightness, but also Japanese acetate, which is very soft and comfortable.

Do you think there are still unexplored areas in fashion? Where do you see the future of your eyewear?
I’m still exploring the eyewear sector, but I want to develop glasses suited for everyday use, for any occasion and place.

Is there an eyewear designer you particularly admire?
I love Oliver Peoples, an iconic brand of great quality.
