When watch brands embrace the world of eyewear, they accompany our everyday life with understated elegance, technical expertise, quality, and great attention to detail

There is a close relationship between eyewear and watchmaking: an obsessive care for detail, the flawless construction of tiny, hidden mechanisms, and exceptional craftsmanship. Two worlds enriched with unique elements and powerful storytelling — particularly when they also express the spirit of great jewellery maisons such as Cartier. The Santos de Cartier sunglasses (as seen in the opening image) pay tribute to the legendary watch distinguished by its signature screw motif, created in 1904 by Louis Cartier to fulfil the wish of Brazilian aviator Alberto Santos-Dumont, who wanted to read the time while flying. The sunglasses feature a full-metal frame with a smooth and brushed black PVD finish, brushed platinum details, and a rectangular silhouette.

Many watch brands have deep roots in a history-rich past, such as Breitling, founded in 1884 in Switzerland and ever since following a path marked by numerous innovations. It invented the modern chronograph and was a pioneer of the navigational tool watch. Its partnership with Cutler and Gross has produced a series of limited-edition frames — 500 pieces per model — inspired by the Superocean Heritage watch. The Biarritz 0003 model, crafted in bio-cellulose acetate, reinterprets the shape of late-1950s frames, the era in which the first Superocean Heritage watch was launched, while the metal core of the temple recalls the texture of the watch strap.

Precision is undoubtedly another shared key element between watches and eyewear. And who better than Omega — official timekeeper of the Milan Cortina 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Games — to translate this concept into eyewear? The Swiss brand, named after the 19-ligne calibre introduced by the Brandt brothers in 1894, expresses in its eyewear the precision, elegance, and sporting spirit of its timepieces through clean, pared-back and dynamic lines. A perfect example is the unisex OM0020 sunglasses in glossy blue acetate, accented with an orange line and fitted with blue Zeiss lenses.

Another Swiss luxury watch brand, TAG Heuer, was founded in 1860 by the young Edouard Heuer with the ambition of bringing constant innovation to watchmaking. This principle continues to guide its eyewear collection. Indeed, TAG Heuer’s Line model won the Silmo d’Or this year. The men’s TH40032U aviator sunglasses with a double bridge are crafted in matte silver titanium and present an aesthetic perfectly aligned with the brand’s timepieces.

Founded in Switzerland in 1832, Longines embodies the essence of elegance. The brand has consistently interpreted the spirit of the times and the needs of new wearers with increasingly high-performance designs, while maintaining a strong connection to its heritage. Understated and refined, the sunglasses in the Heritage line share the same construction principles as the watches: meticulous attention to detail, functional precision, and exceptional quality. And so, through our gaze, time takes on a different meaning.
