Founded in 1880, Morel remains a family-owned eyewear company rooted in the Jura region of France. From its HQ in Morbier, it blends heritage, independence and a strong commitment to sustainability

After 145 years in business, Morel's key values are still independence, authenticity, passion, boldness and commitment. In 1880, Jules Morel worked on the family farm in Les Rousses, a village in the Jura region bordering the eponymous lake. At the age of 25, Jules manufactured and marketed his first 'pince-nez,' the precursor of all modern glasses. Four generations later, the company remains true to its heritage and to the Haut-Jura region; the headquarters having moved only 20 km away to its current site in the heights of Morbier. With beehives for honey production, green mountain landscapes and wide and bright spaces.

In 2024, Morel boasted 19 subsidiaries spread across the globe and today its frames are sold in over 90 countries across five continents. Determined to become a sustainable and responsible company, Morel commits to addressing the major challenges of its time through the three pillars of the company philosophy: environmental, product, and societal.
