The unlimited vision

Transparent or semi-transparent, neutral or coloured glasses ensure an unlimited vision. And without secrets.

Seeing through glasses: it seems almost obvious, but not when the entire frame is transparent or semi-transparent, thus allowing the gaze to wander. Without barriers, beyond the material limits, beyond the perimeters. Glasses thus become the tool for having an immersive experience, sometimes capturing the light to transform it into positive energy, as is the case of the bold unisex model Monarchy by Thierry Lasry (in the opening photo), which is made from a brightly-coloured acetate, characterised by bold volumes, square lines and a retro-futuristic look.

The DB 7127/S Eyewear by David Beckham men's model in acetate with thin frames, attributable to the glamorous and very British style of the former English footballer thanks to some recurring details of his collections: the Talisman symbol, inspired by the wings of a bird, an absolute emblem of freedom, and the unmistakable DB monogram, laser-engraved on the shaded lenses. And, staying on the topic of geometry, Oliver Goldsmith has taken from his precious archive, reinterpreting it, a polygonal shape for the model that, rightly, is called Polygon. It is part of the Winter Sun Collection, originally created in 1969 by Oliver Goldsmith to offer models with lens colours that are also suitable for wearing indoors. In a fascinating dynamic tension of strength and delicacy, the segments and edges of the thin frame create an interesting prismatic effect with light.

As there are no longer any material barriers, the metal spirit of the temples can often be seen emerging through the acetate, thus becoming a very strong distinctive and decorative element of the glasses. In the MJ1109S model of the women's line The Icon by Marc Jacobs, the attention is immediately attracted by the large metal plate with all-over logo inserted in the temple, but also by the brand name that unexpectedly appears on the upper edge of the front. A double challenge for Kartell Eyewear, which explores and experiments with other possibilities of plastic, starting from a different point of view but one that remains connected to design, the unmistakable matrix of the brand. The Lamina Squared model, which is part of the Main Collection, is based on the concept of "One + One = Three": two different silhouettes of the same material overlap to create a third three-dimensional shape crossed by reflections and lights.

When making glasses in transparent materials, each element must be naturally calibrated and carefully studied so as not to ruin the balance and aesthetic harmony of the whole, ensuring everything is visible, without secrets. And that is why you are really surprised by the original and brave model AA0085S by Alaïa that, if it were not for the sunlenses surrounded by a darker profile, in the transparent version it would seem magically suspended in nothingness, without ever losing its strong scenic presence. Instead, Giorgio Armani's refined and ethereal model AR8217 seems to float, inspired by the transparencies of the marine world, with sinuous rods that recall the movement and graphic motifs of the waves, made of bio-acetate with 67% bio-based carbon. Because magic and dreaming are also definitely part of this trend.
