Inspired by sport, space exploration and music legends, visor-style sunglasses never go out of fashion. On the contrary, they have become a manifesto for strong, self-assured personalities
When, in 1969, the first astronauts landed on the Moon, it was above all the fashion world that drew inspiration from those images, developing extraordinary collections of clothing and accessories such as the iconic plexiglass masks by Pierre Cardin and the futuristic designs of André Courrèges. And the Artemis II mission will no doubt have once again stirred the collective imagination, projecting it towards distant worlds that now feel closer than ever.
Suspended between distinctly terrestrial sporting influences and extraterrestrial allure, visor-style sunglasses remain as relevant as ever; indeed, they represent a bold aesthetic choice within a strikingly individual urban style. They were seen, for instance, on the F/W 2026 runway of Off-White, oversized with deeply tinted lenses (as seen in the opening image). IB Kamara, creative director of the brand founded by the visionary Virgil Abloh, dedicated the Mr. Davis collection to Miles Davis, who became an enduring symbol of disruption not only in music. A capsule collection was also created in collaboration with the Miles Davis Estate.
“From Munich to Mars” is the emblematic narrative celebrating 50 years of MCM, whose name stands for Modern Creation München. For this special anniversary, Marcolin created the MW0038 model, a limited-edition visor inspired by astronauts’ helmets. A symbol of the brand’s ongoing journey into the future, it features a wide, wraparound shape with diamond-cut metallic detailing across the lens.
Also oversized is the AM0594S model, McQueen’s bold interpretation, defined by a glossy black injected bio-acetate frame and side shields with a metal logo on the temples. Remaining in the oversized realm, the refined CL40350U Morning Shade by Celine bears an evocative name. Intersected by a slim black metal frame, it features a single smoked lens adorned with the gold Triomphe logo.
A distinctly sporty attitude defines the GC25600SN Summit model by Canada Goose, a label inspired by the demands of the Arctic. Made from bio-injected material, it has an eclectic spirit, with removable temples that can be replaced with an elastic strap for more active use. Special lenses—mirrored in some versions—and a wraparound shape ensure optimal vision in any situation, while comfort and stability are enhanced by a rubberised nose pad and anti-slip temple tips.
Sport is also the starting point for Carrera, which channels its unmistakable DNA into the limited-edition women’s Flaglab 19 sunglasses, featuring a slim semi-rimless metal frame with a flat-top design and highly enveloping Voodoo lenses. The model, equipped with adjustable nose pads for improved fit, is available in a range of colour combinations.
The FE40197U FF Squared Sport visor by Fendi, on the other hand, is aimed at a fashion-forward male audience, with a squared shape and the iconic all-over logo across the lenses. Meanwhile, the timeless elegance and allure of Saint Laurent are reflected in the men’s SL 807 model, where a metal frame is fixed to nylon lenses with small studs that double as decorative elements.
Decoration is also central to the LO799S model by Longchamp, crafted from sustainable plant-based resin, where the horse logo extends across the lens. With its fluid, dynamic lines, it is available in black and an unusual brick shade.
Whatever the destination—be it a city or even Mars—the essential thing is to wear the visor sunglasses best suited to the journey.
