Jamie Shyer, Co-CEO of Zyloware, tells us the reasons and the strategy behind the acquisition of Kenmark, announced on September 3, 2025

What led Zyloware to acquire Kenmark Eyewear last September?
Kenmark is a company I’ve admired for many years. It’s a true American legacy brand, built on strong relationships, deep roots, and a culture that closely aligns with Zyloware’s values: integrity, innovation, and long-term partnership. What made this acquisition compelling was the natural alignment between the two organizations. Kenmark has developed meaningful brand equity and is driven by people who genuinely care about their customers. Our strategy is based on alignment, not assimilation. We respect the unique DNA and heritage of both companies. True synergy comes from sharing best practices and infrastructure behind the scenes, operations, supply chain, and organizational support, while allowing each company to continue doing what it does best in the market.

How did you manage the early stages of the transition?
The first four months were deliberately focused on listening, learning, and creating stability. From day one, it was essential that employees and partners felt secure and confident. This acquisition was intended to be an exciting new chapter, not a disruptive one. We invested time in understanding Kenmark from the inside while ensuring complete continuity for customers. looking ahead, our focus is on strengthening systems, processes, and strategic planning to support long-term growth, while remaining faithful to the values and strengths that have defined both companies for decades.

Where do you see the strongest synergies?
Kenmark brings exceptional expertise in product development, brand management, and a strong presence among independent eyecare professionals. Zyloware complements this with operational excellence, disciplined quality control, competitive pricing, and long-standing relationships with leading optical chains. our investments center on people, technology, and infrastructure to enhance speed, service, and execution. The goal is to support Kenmark’s growth while preserving its entrepreneurial spirit and customer-first mindset.

Will the brand portfolio change?
There are no immediate plans to alter the brand portfolio. Our priority is to grow the brands customers already trust. This includes introducing select Zyloware brands, such as Via Spiga, Shaquille o’Neal, and Stetson, into the Kenmark sales organization, while thoughtfully expanding Kenmark brands into Zyloware accounts where appropriate. Any future additions will be carefully evaluated with a long-term vision focused on quality, service, and strong relationships.
