Sunshine Reggae

Vibrant energy

It inspires energy, passion and also strength and speed, but above all positivity. Linked mainly to sunlight and a summer atmosphere, yellow often returns to eyewear collections. A single colour that continually transforms with different shades, intensities and atmospheres.

There is a particular colour linked above all to summer, which evokes sunlight. And it is, of course, yellow. Positive, energetic, dynamic, and perhaps even therapeutic... Probably the most suitable song to express the strength and passion it instils is the timeless Sunshine Reggae by the Danish duo Laid Back. However, there is no absolute yellow, as indeed it does not exist in the reality that surrounds us, much less in nature. We also discover it by exploring the various eyewear collections. Each one has a story to tell, a different atmosphere to suggest.

Does Ducati Yellow mean anything to you, for example? It appeared in 1972 but it was in 1974 that it took to the track for the first time with the Ducati 750 SS. It then returned in alternating phases and then triumphantly reappeared in 2023 in the bold lines of the uniforms of the Panigale V4 R bike of the Aruba.it Racing Team created by Aldo Drudi. A symbolic colour for the motorcycle manufacturer that it was essential to include in the Carrera | Ducati collection, which includes the Carduc 045/S polyamide injection model with anti-grip temples made from Ultem, an extremely resistant and flexible material. It can be worn under the helmet and is compatible with prescription lenses. On the other hand, it is the French chic of Longchamp, a historic brand that is famous above all for its iconic Le Pliage bags, now a status symbol, that inspires the LO758S model with an extra-large round shape, made of plant-based resin and with Tritan Renew lenses, a choice consistent with Longchamp's commitment to sustainability.

For Pucci, whose artistic direction is entrusted to Camille Miceli, the choice is oriented towards the reinterpretation of the cat-eye shape for the EP0223 model in glossy acetate with thin metal temples and fishtail zipper, a symbol that is "an ode to the house's Mediterranean legacy" as stated on the maison's official website. And "legacy" is also a recurring word in the lexicon of Lapima, where the landscape of Brazil with its lights and shadows is recognisable in all the collections. Creations that are real sculptures and that, like Julia, reflect light, absorb it, and transform it. Softness, sensuality, poetry and lightheartedness are encapsulated in a single strange and intriguing colour, Margarita, which recalls summer evenings, the particular flavour of that frozen cocktail interrupted by the unexpected taste of salt around the rim of the glass...

Unexpected accessories, therefore, to be inhabited as sculptures, as a unique opportunity to be yourself or whoever you want to be. To look and be looked at. The style of Marni (in the opening photo) for example, where the colours, textures and original architectures of the clothing line are also transformed into glasses made by Retrosuperfuture, including the Field of Rushes model with oval lenses inserted in extra-thick acetate rims, for a decidedly bold appearance. Choosing a dress or a brand in some cases becomes a choice that is not only aesthetic, but that is also tied to a certain way of interpreting life, and motivations that go beyond the outfit. This certainly happens for Jacquemus, the French brand created in 2010 from the creativity of Simon Porte Jacquemus and which draws on archetypes of the past to place them in contemporary, indeed future, contexts, playing with a fresh, sincere and poetic language. Like the oval shape of the Ovalo unisex glasses, which are part of a small collection of only three models that stem from the collaboration with Linda Farrow, and which, not surprisingly, has the subtitle "les sculptures". Because, as always – once again – art, beauty, and poetry will save us. But with a touch of yellow.
