There are timeless colours like honey and amber. Perhaps it is because they visually bring back familiar colours, belonging to other contexts and therefore reassuring. In this case, it is natural elements that make the glasses timeless. On the other hand, were not celluloid and later acetate introduced into eyewear to imitate and replace natural materials, which were becoming increasingly rare?  The range of nuances is vast, ranging from delicate, subtle shades that lighten or slightly emphasise the gaze, to greater density and depth similar to shades of amber.

Like the glasses of Lapima, the Brazilian brand that for the new collection turns an inward look with the State of Mind Collection. "A collection created from a collection of fragmented emotions that emerged in the course of the creative process, an introspective journey towards the inner self," explains creative director Gustavo Assis. For the first time, the colour code is engraved on the inside of the barrel of the models which, in the amber version, convey calm, reflection, through the softness of sculpted shapes that seem to caress the face, thanks to the sensory touch of this bright and warm shade.

The first S/S 2024 collection of Pomandère glasses also opts for dusty, opaque, translucent effects that blend with the light, creating different, iridescent shades each time. Five hand-made women's sunglasses that pick up on the fundamental concepts of the clothing line created in 2008 by Carlo Zanuso, contemporary, comfortable and timeless, allowing each woman to choose the model that best suits her personality and face, including Spicy (in the opening photo) with its rectangular shape. And to reaffirm its solid link with an artisanal heritage, the Vicenza-based company, which will also open its first single-brand store in Paris in early 2024, has created a series of artistic ceramic displays in collaboration with Premiata Ceramica.

When talking about heritage, one cannot fail to mention Moscot, the iconic brand founded in 1915 and still run today by the same family now in its fifth generation with Zack Moscot, the current Chief Design Officer. Among the colours that have now become classics are Blonde and Butterscotch in which The Telena prescription frame is also declined, inspired by an Italian chef from Little Italy in New York, a blatant tribute to those who, even in a distant and foreign country, have chosen to maintain and carry on their traditions. With courage, determination and passion.

Made of thick acetate with mineral glass lenses, it has diamond rivets on the temples, a key bridge and five-ring hinges. The BV 1250S model by Bottega Veneta opts for a very bright and sunny single-colour shade, creating an intriguing prismatic effect through the facets and milling of the acetate worked with significant thicknesses. The tone-on-tone lens then emphasises the minimal but decisive shape of this model, thus also reinforcing the colour choice. Style and sustainability meet instead in the Neubau glasses, designed and hand-made in Austria in the company's carbon-neutral production facility and made of 100% plant-based acetate in combination with a temple made from long-lasting beta titanium from Japan. These include the Josi model or the wide and very light Phaedra model, which is part of the second capsule collection created in collaboration with the German fashion brand Odeeh. But it can also be just a detail in these shades that enlivens a frame, as is the case, for example, in the Vitti model by Mad In Italy featuring a milled top with a 'diamond' effect and double gluing on the temple to match the colour of the front.
